Gwyn often tells me that she is sad she is the "only one who has to sleep alone." I know, I know, years from now she will love it, but for now she sees it as the boys get to sleep together (still in the same bunk!) and husband and I sleep together. She feels left out.
Sometimes she will ask to sleep in the boys' room. Usually they will all be in one bed, or maybe on the floor. Monday the wind scared Gwyn, she she slept alone on the top bunk. (The second person to do that in months.) Well, when Kevin travels I have the kids take turns sleeping in our bed. Now Gwyn loves that and calls that "slumber parties." For Christmas she said she wanted a slumber party. So one day over break husband slept on the top bunk (the first person to do that in months) and Gwyn slept in our bed. You would think that there would be room but you underestimate how pushy and wiggly a 4 year-old is.
She still talks about how fun sleeping in my bed is, so last night I told her we could have a small slumber party. I was exhausted and planned on going to bed at 8:00. So she and I fell asleep in my bed, and then daddy put her in her own bed when he came to bed. She loved it. She picked out our books to read to each other (That is another story - for every book I read to her, she reads one to me. She is already learning her sight words!) and was running around so excited.
As for the sleep... well, I fell asleep. But I kept being awaken to kisses. She would kiss me on the cheek, on the nose, on the forehead. She loves to give kisses. And they would wake me up, and she would tell me to kiss her back in the same places.
So I didn't get as much extra sleep as I planned on, but it was one of the best sleeps I have ever had! She is so loving!
