Army Guys

Last week the boys put their army, police, and fireman guys up around the stairs. They told me it was to protect everyone "while we were sleeping. This way, nothing can get up the stairs without us knowing."

Colin's Crazy Hair

Yesterday's post had me looking at old pictures. I forgot just how crazy Colin's hair was. Here are a few of my favorite pictures.

Baby Pictures Of The Boys

Here are pictures of the boys when they were both close to 3 months old, which is what Gwyn is now.

Here is Colin.

His eyes were still blue! His face is much more round than his brother's. And his hair wasn't too long yet. (It got really bad for a while, but he was too young to go get it cut.)

He still has manageable hair here, too.

He looks so bored and uninterested. This was his first time in the Bumbo. We were obviously more excited than he was. His hair is starting to really go crazy.

Here is Kevin.

After a bath. He is about 2 months old, but looks older to me.

Smile! Hos head/face is longer than Colin's, and he has much less hair.

Love the cheeks! His were so big! Just like Gwyn's!

Puzzles

I got out some puzzles to do last night. I had several helpers.

First Colin and Gwyn helped out.

Then Trap Jaw helped out. (Yes, he really told me that.)

Mommy's Special Days

Last week Gwyn and Colin had doctor's appointments. After his appointment Colin had the choice of going to school or spending the day with me. He chose to spend it with me! So we had a special Mommy and Colin (and Gwyn) Day.

After we returned home from the docter, we played with play-doh and a few games. Then he got to chose where we went to lunch - Steak N' Shake! The number 1 rule when we go to Steak N' Shake is that we have to get a shake. After a very big tantrum, (Yes, it was in public. Luckily Aunt Cathy was there to help with Gwyn while we were outside.) we ate and had our chocolate shake.

Because I had a day with Colin, this week I had a special day with Kevin! Aunt Cathy had the whole day with Gwyn (Thank you!) while Kevin and I headed to the Magic House. He showed me his favorite things, like fishing and the bubble room. Then we went to McDonald's for lunch, which he got to choose. Afterwards we went to a local pool. While we were there he even tried a new water slide! It was a bit too fast for him, but I was glad he tried it.

I am hoping to have a few more days like that with the boys this summer!

More Artwork

I always hang up artwork and writings in our house. (See here and here and here and here and here and here...) I want to encourage their creativity and reading skills. I think it may have gone too far though. I try to take it down, but I never do that often enough, so it builds up.

Now they want to hang up artwork ALL THE TIME. About twice a week, they spend time at night hanging up new artwork in their room instead of playing. We have to keep tape in their room. When they misbehave, we take the tape away. This is what their room looked like on Thursday night. I am sure more is hanging up by now.

Kevin Read His First Word!

I got a hat from a friend a while ago, and just gave it to the boys. It is a play hat that could be used when they pretend to be cowboys or Indian Jones. Kevin asked me when I put his name in it. I told him that I hadn't. Then I remembered that my friend has a son named Kyle, and he must see the K in the name.

A few minutes later, Kevin says "This isn't my name. This says Kyle. K Y L E. That is how you spell Kyle!" He read his first word that wasn't his name! He is getting better and better with his phonics skills each week! We are so proud!

Colin's 3-Year Check Up

Colin had his 3 -year-old check up yesterday. He is 32 lbs (52 %ile) and 39 in. tall (73%ile). He is starting to ask "Why?" as much as Kevin, which is all the time! He has been potty trained for a few months now, and brushes his own teeth too. He just moved into his new room at school. The teachers adore him (so they say) and tell me often that he has such a funny sense of humor.

I would love to post pictures of him, but he always holds his hands up and yells "No!" like I am the paparazzi or something.

Gwyn's 2 Month Update

Gwyn went to her 2 month appointment today. She weights 12 lbs, 4 oz (82%ile) and is 23.5 in. long (86%ile). She is cooing and talking and smiling everyday. She recognizes her family as well. She often smiles at her brothers, and has started talking to them. Yesterday Colin was crying while she was eating, and she stopped eating and cried with him twice. She doesn't like the sound of him crying.

Colin's UCDC Pictures

Colin moved into the 3 year-old room this week at UCDC (University Child Development Center). On one of his last days, his teacher gave us a CD with all of the pictures they had taken over the past year. I thought I would share some! (You can kind of tell which ones are from last summer based on how little he looks.)

Also, I have a cute story about his first day of the transition. Now that he is in the new room, he moves from the toddler playground to the older-kid playground. The only time the boys have shared a playground was their first three months at UCDC, almost 2 years ago. (They share the Motor Room on rainy days and hot days, but they are not in there at the same time.) Anyway, when Colin went to the new playground, Kevin was there and ran up to him and said "I have so much to teach you!" When we asked Kevin about it, he said that he "showed him the cave and other stuff." Adorable!

Meeting at the fence while still on different playgrounds.

Daddy visits for lunch!

I forgot my lunch one time. (Well, a couple times.) I called Colin and Kevin to thank them for leaving it in my car on the way to school.
