Meet the newest member of our family! UPDATED

We are going to use the blog to keep you updated on our new family member. For now, she is still growing, but soon enough she will be here!

We have a caterpillar! The boys found her tonight and we took her home. Her name is Jane. (Kevin wanted to name her Kevin, but I told him we have enough of those already. So he said "We will call her Jane. We don't have enough of those yet.")

As of now, she is getting used to her home in a jar. We did pick grass, leaves and sticks up to make her as comfortable as possible.

UPDATE: J2 is no longer living with us. She is an Eastern Kentucky caterpillar, more commonly known as a tent worm. She is a pest. (As my husband would surely add, "Just like J1.")

Dinner With Friends

We had friends over for dinner the other night. Tina and Kyle came over. I work with Tina and Kyle is in Kevin's class at school. The boys all get along so well together, so I took some pictures of them playing. Most pictures were good, but there was one I took right after Colin fell and right before Kevin fell on top of him. It looks like Kevin is kicking him in the stomach. I had to post it.

Zoo Trip

For those who don't already know, the zoo is Colin's favorite place. He mentions it every single day. (What do you want for breakfast? Zoo! What did you do at school today? Zoo!) So with the weather being so wonderful last weekend, we headed to the zoo. (You would think he would flip out from being so excited, but he acts really cool about it. It is almost disappointing he little excitement he actually has when we finally take him.) Kevin gets much more excited. We always eat lunch there and ride the train. Kevin's big thing now is getting a corn dog on stick.

Funny Things Said

Last night Kevin and I were talking about a birthday party we were attending the next day. We were talking about the cake and pizza we were going to eat. Then he asked if there would be anything to drink. I told him there would be juice.

Then he added, "I hope it isn't disgusting stuff. Yeah, like raccoon pee."

What?!? How does he come up with this?

Kevin Says The Strangest Things

We were driving to the doctor today. It was just Kevin and me in the car. Suddenly he yelled "Get out you old goose!" (We have been reading Sam And The Firefly, in which the firefly calls the owl an old goose.)

Surprised, I say "That came out of no where!"

Kevin says "No. It came out of me."

A Note From School

We get one of these each day Colin is at daycare. It tells us what he needs, what he ate, and his activities for the day. This note says:

"Colin fixed a plate with food and called Tiffany Benbow (his teacher) to come "eat." Then he put the plate under the loft and pulled her over, then pulled at her legs until she said "Okay, I'll sit down." After eating, he took her to the zoo, walking her all around the room."

So he made a pretend meal, and then pretended to walk around the room showing her animals. His teachers said he was naming animals as he walked around. You know what this means?

He has already gone on his first date. Man, he is good.

Arm Update

It is a dislocated elbow! Nothing is broken! We go to the doctor on Wednesday to get it placed.

How They Differ

Kids are very different. I get that. Mine can be identical or complete opposites. Here is a way they are different.

When we wake the boys up in the morning, sometimes we put our heads next to theirs and pretend to snore. Kevin will giggle and yell "Wake up!" He always has.

Colin? Colin says "bane-kee" (blanket) while handing you one of his blankets, and then lies down next to you while snuggling in.

Both are adorable and a lot of fun.

A Few Letters of the Alphabet

Colin has been singing the alphabet lately. Of course, all the letters sound like vowels. I tried to get a video but he either gets distracted or tried to see what I am recording. Here is the best I could do:





He has also been counting as well. His counting sounds like "uuhh, oooo, feee, ive, aye, ive, fee, eye" but it is still adorable. He even tried to count his fingers while pointing to them. He may not count, but if you ask him he how many fingers are on his hand he will say "Fie!" I have tried to get that on video, and will put it up when I do!

Haircuts

The boys got haircuts on Thursday night. We were very shocked that both boys sat there very quietly the entire time! That has never happened. Usually Kevin does pretty good (or at least recently he has) but Colin screams and cries. This time they both acted as if nothing at all was going on. Here are a couple before and after pictures.

The Events of March 31st Happened As Follows...

The morning started off pretty normal. I took Colin to school since Kevin had been sick, and was staying home with K2. After raking leaves together, they headed to the park. Kevin was feeling great and showing no signs of the virus he was recovering from. Kevin and K2 had a picnic at the park, eating sandwiches on a blanket. They headed home for naps.

After dinner, we were all playing in the living room floor and Kevin rolled off a lap. He immediately started crying. (It wasn't his whining cry either, which he had been doing minutes earlier.) He kept holding his arm saying it hurt. Within 10 minutes he was in the car on the way to Urgent Care. About 90 minutes later he was back home with a splint and ice cream.

The x-rays didn't show any break, but breaks don't always show right away with young children. I have already talked to his doctor who will look at new x-rays next week. For now, he is getting used to using one hand. (We are lucky he is right-handed.)
