Kevin fell in the bathroom tonight. He started crying. It was sad. Then he immediately told me that we need a rug so it will be softer next time he falls. Then he ran and got the rug from in front of Colin's door and placed it in the exact spot that he fell. The whole time he is telling me that "this will feel better next time I fall."
I guess he is right.

Snow Day Fun
Today was snow day for me, mommy and Colin. Daddy still had to go to work though. He was already gone by the time Colin and I woke up. I wasn't pleased, but Colin wouldn't stop asking for him. Thankfully, mommy fed him to get him quiet.
After breakfast mommy took about 20 minutes getting us all ready to go out in the snow. She said something about being reminded of a movie called "Christmas Story." I don't know what she is talking about- Christmas is over! We went outside, bringing toys for a snowman face, but the snow wouldn't make anything. So we played instead. Mommy and I spent a while making train noises and train tracks in the snow. We covered the yard! Colin was too cold by then. His track only went to the side of the house. Mommy felt so bad for him that we went inside. I didn't feel bad. I could have stayed outside longer, but I bet she wouldn't have saved a snack for me if I stayed out.
We helped mommy open and pour the can of green beans into the pot for lunch. Even though she told us not to eat any of the green beans, every time she turned around Colin and I would eat them. We were giggling, but mommy still didn't know!
After lunch mommy had to fold our clothes. I am glad I don't have to fold them! But I do like to pick out all the socks for her and put them on the table. Colin likes to throw all the socks on the floor. Mommy says he just doesn't know how to help yet. I think he is just mean.
While folding, we saw our new towels. Mine is a monster, and Colin's is a monkey. We put them on our heads and were running around screaming! I was chasing Colin, but I have to run slow. I am way faster than him. I found my fireman hat and put that on too. I told mommy I was a "fireman monster." I am so clever. There is no such thing, but mommy didn't know that.
Then we got ready for naps. I said I wasn't going to fall asleep, but I did. Colin did too.

Each year Kevin and I take a trip without the kids. While on our trip we came across a few signs that we thought were hilarious.
The first is a sign at a mortgage broker who called himself "The Loan Arranger." We actually turned around to drive back to get this picture.
The second sign is one that can be read two ways. I originally read it wrong, and was laughing at it. The correct way to read it is "Great Food. Less Fat." The way I read it was "Great Food-less Fat." I was very confused. Why would fat be great if it wasn't in delicious food? (I was pretty aware that it was wrong, but I liked my way better.)
The last was a license plate on the wall of where we ate. It is the plate in the middle.

Catching Up
There are so many pictures to share and stories to tell, but I don't want to write several blogs. So I am going to put up all the pictures and stories from the past few weeks. It may be long, but hopefully it will also be mildly entertaining. (I am sorry it is so long.)
Christmas:
Christmas went wonderfully this year! Santa brought the boys a train table. The boys opened it first, and were satisfied with having it be the only present. They refused to open anything else. After a few minutes Kevin figured it out and started opening more gifts, but it took about 10 minutes to get Colin to do anything other than play with trains. I guess it is good that he loved the set, but we were more excited than they were and were anxious to keep opening!

Colin got plates and dishes from Santa. He lined up all the plates on the fireplace to leave pretend cookies for Santa.

We also hosted Christmas night dinner at our house. Both Kevin and I were very excited about it, and we ended up having almost 20 people here! The list includes: the four of us, my mom Marcia, good friend Steve, my dad Steve and step-mom Tracy, Tracy's parents Sharon and Lee, brothers Jake, Tony, Chris, and Brandon, sister Cathy, Kevin's sister Kelly, and Kevin's parents Kevin and Louise. We think it went very well, and are looking to host again next year! I wish we had some pictures but we forgot to take any. Let us know if you have any!
Kelly:
Kevin's sister Kelly was in town and we were so happy that she stayed with us. It gave her plenty of time to see the boys. We don't get to see her too often and were glad that she had a safe trip her, even if the snow tried to make the trip not happen.

Hair cuts:
Right before the new year the boys got haircuts. Colin already looks 6 months older. And more like Kevin. (Or less. I have heard both.)
Swim Lessons:
Kevin started lessons on Tuesday. This is the first class where he is in the water without us. He did wonderful! He was nice to the other students and listened to the teacher. We invited Colin to go and swim with us while Kevin was at his lesson. He told me "No. Cold." I asked "Is it too cold to swim?" He replies yes. I tried to convince him that the pool was inside, but he wanted none of it. Maybe next week.
Speaking of Colin, he talks so much now. His favorite thing to say is "Cold. Hat. Coat." Colin also wants to return to the zoo. The last time we were there it was 10 degrees out. So he tells us "Zoo. Cold. Hat. Coat." He really likes to let us know how to stay warm. He communicates so well and is starting to string words together. One of my favorite things (for now) is how he walks around the house yelling "Mama!" when he needs help.

Kevin and Colin got stick horses for Christmas. Most of the time Kevin uses his as a pickax. (His words.) This day though it was a horse. I walked into the room and this is what I saw. He told me "The horse keeps falling down. Now he won't fall and he can eat his food!" (Notice the mouth is in the dumptruck, which he used as a bowl.)

To A Far-Away Friend
We received a Christmas card from a friend in Thailand. As soon as Kevin saw it he said "Beer!" I asked him if he wanted to put the card in his room and he decided to tape it to the wall. I thought I would post a picture since Beer now visits the blog. Happy Holidays Beer!
Funny Things They Say
Today while cooking dinner, the boys were playing. First they used their tools to fix my imaginary bike, then they were hunting the mean bear, and then they were tending to a sick person on the stairs. They were both very nicely sharing the doctor's kit. At one point, Kevin asked me to put on his "watch," because "doctors need to know what time it is." The watch was really the blood pressure cuff, but I didn't have the heart to correct him.
Also today, Pappy was spinning Kevin in a chair. He yelled at Pappy to stop because he was "making him busy." Close enough.
Lastly, a while ago, Kevin and I were both pretending to be T Rexes. He told me that we were going to hatch some eggs. So he gathered up a group of Little People and we took turns sitting on them. After a minute of this, he said "They are starting to hatch!" To which he then gave me a big hug, looked me in the eyes, and sweetly said "We're parents!" We played this game again tonight, and in the middle I ran up here to type the blog. I was afraid I would forget. My husband informed me that I was needed back downstairs quickly. Apparently in my absence, Kevin took the responsibility of parenting very seriously. He was still sitting on our "babies" and was getting mad at Colin who was trying to get to them!
Bonus story - Kevin knows his opposites! And they start swim lessons on Wednesday.
I couldn't make this up if I tried.

Christmas Party
I can't believe I haven't posted this yet, but it needs to go up, regardless of how late it is.
A few weeks ago, we all headed out to Illinois to go to a Christmas party with Pop, Tracy, Tony, and Jake. We ate breakfast, played, and even met Santa and Mrs. Claus. It is a great way to meet Santa since it is inside and there are things for the kids to do while we (mostly K2) wait in line.
The past years, Kevin has been too hesitant and scared to go on any of the blow-up slides. This year he showed no fear. He even did the giant castle obstacle course with me and later with Jake. He loved the pirate ship one as well, that had a big slide and jumping area. As usual, he would show great patience and generosity by allowing others who were there first to go, or stay out of the way of smaller children. There were a few times that I had to yell from the bottom that it was okay for him to go down. As for Colin, he was a bit overwhelmed by the crowd. He stayed mostly in our arms while waving and flirting with nearby girls.
