Kevin's First Marathon

This past weekend Kevin ran the St. Louis Rock N Roll Marathon. It is the first time this marathon has been in St. Louis. There are local bands playing every few miles, and then a big band at the end. (This year it was Sugar Ray, which Kevin said made him want to not finish at all.) There were 20,000 people running, with 4,000 entered in the marathon, and the rest in the half marathon.

We had some friends also run the marathon and half marathon, and some other friends were at one of the stops with us to cheer on their own family. Downtown Grandma let Kevin and a few friends stay at her place downtown since she is out of town. This was they could get a decent night's sleep and not have to worry about parking in the morning, and just walk to the start. Luckily for us the weather was perfect, although it was a little warm for Kevin.

Kevin, Colin, Aunty Kelly and I were there to cheer him on. (Gwyn stayed home to nap.) Here are a few pictures.

Colin was on the lookout for daddy!

We were ready with out signs at 15 miles!

Here he comes!

Daddy even tried to give Colin a high five, but he didn't want one right then. So Colin was sad since he didn't get a high five, and Kevin was sad because his baby missed seeing daddy run by.

All that was corrected when we moved to the second location, around 18 miles in.

Here he comes again!

Clearly, by the third spot (around mile 25) the boys were pretty tired.

I had signed up to get texted on my phone whenever he passed checkpoints, which made moving to different locations much easier. He finished when we were on our way home. After resting for a while, he came back home! We are so proud of him!
