Ice Skating

It looks like he is also pretending to be a dinosaur.

Pregnancy Update

I am currently about 5 1/2 months (25 weeks) pregnant. Here is the news:

She loves to kick. She loves to kick when I rest or eat or don't eat or do anything. She is giving me heartburn. I have that every pregnancy, and the old wives tale is that heartburn is tied to babies with lots of hair. I can only prove that right. I am not sure what I would do with a bald baby, so here's hoping it she is working on the hair! I am starting to really feel big. Already. Ugh. I hope I don't get too giant. Movement it getting limited now as well. I am having some mood swings. It feels like more than previous pregnancies. You will have to ask Kevin, but if you want an honest answer, ask him when I am not around. But for the most part I feel great and finally have some energy.

Colin loves to put his hand on my belly and tell me that he feels "baby sister" kick him. He actually may have occasionally, but he says he does every time. He is still too young to really get it yet anyway. But he does know that his baby sister is in there "growing big." He asked me this weekend if I would "put her in my hands so I can hold her." He likes to tell me that when she cries he is going to "feed her" or "hold her." He is precious.

Kevin is excited about baby sister coming, but talks about it less. When I tell him she is kicking, he places his hand on my belly. The other day she actually kicked his hand. He looked at me so fast with his eyes wide open. It was shocking for him.

Both boys love taking care of baby sister already. They have these penguins we got from a zoo tour earlier this year. Last week they were both pretending to take care of her using the penguins. Here are a few pictures.

First I had to teach Kevin how to wrap a baby in a blanket without covering the face. (This was not my demand. He was getting frustrated and asked me to show him.) They liked to walk around with her and then both found a baby crib to lie the baby in.

Snow Shoveling

We woke up Sunday morning to the first snow of the year. Or as Colin said, "Look, snow. Its on your car. Truck too."

When Daddy said he was going out to shovel the snow, of course it was met with a resounding, "Can I come out and help?!" from Kevin and a "Me too?!" from Colin. Luckily, during the course of Christmas shopping a few child size snow shovels had been found for just such an occasion.

Colin was better at scooping snow back onto the driveway, but Kevin worked very hard to clear the way.

After finishing up the front, Colin was adamant about heading to the backyard. Not sure if he understood the snow on the grass was ok.

After Colin gave up on that it was time for a snowball fight. Daddy was very helpful in making snowballs for the boys. Too bad for him that he was the target.

The last picture is open to interpretation. Either Daddy took out Colin in retaliation or he is making a snow angel. What is your guess?

Mommy did her part by making sure hot cocoa and blankets were ready for when the workers came back inside. It was very much appreciated.

Candids from Pappy Grandma

Kevin's mom, Louise, watches the boys on Mondays and Tuesdays. She is known as Pappy Grandma. She often will send me picture of the boys throughout the day to let me know what they are doing, or to show me how much fun they are having. I always love getting the pictures, but haven't really shared many before. I thought I would finally! Here are a few:

Colin being a clown

Playing on their swing set that Pappy built

At Wapplehorst with Pappy. (This is bravery, Kerr's! And wait until Hannah learns how to climb.)

Eating Pirate cake.

Doing one of his favorite things - baking!

Kevin was so proud of his new dinosaur puzzle!

With Pappy at The Magic House.

Dressing up at The Magic House.

One of Colin's favorite foods - corn on the cob.

At the Saint Louis Zoo.

Riding the carousal at the zoo.

One of my favorite pictures of Colin.

Safe Snacking

Downtown Grandma sent this picture to me when she had the boys last weekend. I assumed they were playing train engineers. I was wrong. Apparently, the boys were eating snack "somewhere safe where the big T Rex wouldn't get their food."

Art And Words From Kevin

Here is Kevin's newest artwork from school. He told me there was an "N for Nest" and a "K for Kevin." He drew a nest near the N and then drew a picture of himself near the K! I have never seen him draw a picture of himself before! I like the legs and hair, and even the face! This one is definitely hanging on the fridge.

The following are pictures that Kevin drew for Daddy and Colin. They are both of a camel. These are the first animals that he has drawn. (He did bring home a camel last week, but it was in colored pencil and it did not photograph well.) I love the humps, heads, legs and grass!

Camel #2

On the way home from school, Colin saw a trailer behind a truck that had a large piece of machinery on it. He asked me "Why is that truck carrying that other truck?" I replied "How else would they move it?" He was quiet while thinking so I continued "Unless a giant robot carried it, or maybe a T Rex."

Kevin informed me "It wouldn't be a T Rex. I think it would be an Allosaurus because a T Rex only has 2 fingers and an Allosaurus has more so it could carry more. Yeah, an Allosaurus has 3 fingers. I think that would work."

I stand corrected. Don't argue with this kid about his dinosaurs.

Daddy Workouts

Anytime Kevin is on the floor, two boys attack him. Whether they are wrestling, playing "farm guy" (Colin's words) and taking care of a horse, or climbing on him, I would say actually being on the ground without being attacked is only done if he is alone.

The other night, Kevin got on the floor and was told to play airplane/helicopter. It basically turned into "Daddy Workout." I had to get pictures.

Colin Writing

Here are some pictures of Colin writing. He has really started to enjoy writing words lately. Of course, they are not actual words, but that doesn't make it any less cute. He is learning his letters, too. His favorite is the letter O. Any time he sees it is shouts "O for me! O in my name!"

Here are some pictures that he colored and wrote on for Thanksgiving. They are still hanging up in our house, since he was so proud.

Here he wrote "Mommy" on the bottom. He originally asked to write my name, so I told him Jane. He corrected me and said, "No, Mommy." (But he still knows my name if you ask.)

He wrote his name on the bottom of this one.

He wanted to write on a notepad tonight. But tonight he told me that he was writing Kevin's name. (And yes, he really is starting to call him by his name more!)

He was so proud!
