Just Two Boys Dancing To "Steve Songs"

Here are some photos of the boys dancing and running around to "Steve Songs." These are 1-2 minute long songs that the boys love. Honestly, I thought I would really dislike them, but they don't really both me. For some reason they have taken to a song about a rocket traveling into outer space. The song starts off with a countdown for the rocket. The boys always put their hands up for that part and then jump at "Blast-Off!" Then the run around for the remainder of the song. Here are a few pictures. I took a video, but I don't know if it will load. I will try later!

Pregnancy Update

The pregnancy pictures are usually taken in the evening, when I look a bit bigger, but here is one from 16 weeks. (About 1 week ago.)

Halloween 2010

This year for Halloween we had two Batmen in our house! They were both pretty excited as Sunday approached, wearing their costumes and running around. Both kept asking me if they could save me, or my pets. It was adorable.

On Wednesday we went to the St. Louis Zoo for Boo At The Zoo. The zoo is open until 8:30. We headed there with Downtown Grandma to eat dinner and see the decorations. I love how they have tombstones and pumpkins and hay everywhere. (Not as much as I love their Christmas lights though.) The boys were dressed up as Batmen and had fun running around looking at all the other kids. We even watched the Children's Zoo animal show. Here are a few pictures.






The next night they dressed up again and headed to Francis Howell North High School with Pappy and Grandma for family activities. Kevin spent most of the time in the big castle jumper (something like this) while Colin would not let Pappy put him down. They both had just enough candy to be excited and exhausted.

As for Halloween, after pizza and a quick change, the boys headed out with Daddy, glow sticks, flashlights, and (thankfully) a wagon. Colin was hesitant the first few houses. Once it sunk in that this was how to get candy, he led the way. When his bag got too heavy he would drag it saying "Batman strong!" After each house the boys would leave their buckets in the wagon and walk to the next house. Kevin left his bucket in the wagon every single time, he was so excited. They were so cute walking up the house together. Occasionally, they would forget to say thank you and would run back up.

At about 7:30 they both said they were tired. Kevin and I were tired as well, so it all worked out!

Things Said Tonight.

I had conferences tonight, and got home after they were already in bed. I went in to talk to them since they were still awake.

Kevin told me about his day and how he got to play in the hayride at school. Then he started singing "Down on the corner. Howdy in the street. That song was on in daddy's car." Can you figure out the song? Great band to be quoting.

Then I went in to see Colin who told me about playing outside. He had a small toy in his bad. It has a little net on the end of a stick to catch a ball. (See picture.)


Then he told me it was for catching bees. (He calls all bugs bees, remember?) Then he said "Yeah, like in this book." He got out of bed, opened a book, and flipped to this page.

Big Words

Tonight Kevin wanted to read one of his dinosaur books to me at bedtime. (That means he flipped through the pages and just talked about the pictures.) While talking he told me that the ankylosaurus lost his herd. I asked his what a herd was. He pointed to the picture of a group and told me "that." I asked him how many ankylosauruses are in a herd and he told me "a lot."

Impressed, I said "Herd is a pretty big word. I am surprised you know that word."

He replied "Yeah. Rhinoceros is a a big word too."

Too funny!

Wow, they can be creative!

Here are pictures of what the boys built Sunday morning.




As they explained it, the part on the right is the shark fence so that they can be safe behind the fence when the sharks come. Then the machine will take them over to the shark trap. I thought that sounded pretty normal. Then they kept talking.

We were told that "the shark trap with catch them and and make them into small bites and cook them and then we will eat them."

Yesterday Colin told me that there was an alligator outside. Then alligator climbed into our car and was going to drive away. When I asked how we would get home, he pointed to another car and said "Drive that one home." A few minutes later he told me a Red Claw (T- Rex) was outside. I asked if he was nice or mean. He told me mean, so I said that Red Claw had to stay outside if he was going to be mean. Colin explained that he "kicked Red Claw in the head. Fell down. Dead. In the road. Ran over now!"

Okay. Should we be concerned with this creativity? They are just too cute about it, and it almost always focuses on keeping us safe. To be fair to them, most of the time they are pretending to be and do normal things. (Like animals and construction workers.)

I don't care! I love it!

Kevin's Newest Drawing

Kevin is drawing people! At first we saw A LOT of spider webs. And then flowers. And then spider webs with spiders in them. This week he brought home this!


He told us it was a superhero, but now he says "I think a pirate!" He said he didn't like it very much, but since I hung it up on the fridge and put it on the blog, he seems to be more proud. Good for him!

Colin's First Zoo Class

Colin was very excited about his zoo class. Kevin had two this summer, one in May and one in June. Colin had to wait until September 11 for his class. He was very patient. By the time his class came he talked about it for days, and even told his teachers about it.

The class was called "Romp And Stomp." In it, they talked about different animals and how they move. When he first entered the room, they had animal puppets matched with real animal parts. While all the other children were nervous and clinging to parents, Colin was comfortably moving from table to table. He started to feed some of the animals, and made their sounds.

All the kids sat around a rug on the floor to listen to stories. When the teacher would ask questions, he would shout the answer without any help from me. Afterwards the teacher brought around several animals to touch. (Frog, chinchilla, snake, bird, etc.) Colin was brave and touched some, but not all of them. Then it was art time, so Colin and I both made dragonflies.
