4th of July

This year, like last year, we spent the 4th of July in downtown St. Louis. This year, however, we stayed in a hotel. We had dinner downtown on Saturday night at one of the boys' favorite spots. Then went swimming at the hotel. The boys had fun in the pool, but were a bit overwhelmed by all the other kids.

Afterward relaxing while eating popcorn, we headed to the Arch grounds for fireworks. (Gwyn spent the evening at Downtown Grandma's loft. She wasn't up for the heat or the loud noise.) We tried a new location this year. I liked last year's spot better, because we could see the Arch, but we still had fun. The boys even got glow sticks to play with, and we ate funnel cake and fried Oreos. (Neither boy liked them. I didn't either. Of course daddy did.)

Kevin pretended that his glow sticks were light sabers.

The next morning we met up with DTG and Gwyn for breakfast and then the four of us headed back to the Arch grounds for the Air Show. (Gwyn again spent this time at DTG's.) However, it proved to be too hot for me and the boys. After lunch and two planes, we headed back to get Gwyn and cool off.

Overall, it was a very fun, but hot, weekend. We really liked our hotel, and the boys had fun. Maybe next year we will see the parade, if it isn't too hot.
